Longs Drugs in Wailuku will offer drive-thru testing for COVID-19 starting today, CVS Health announced Thursday.
Located at 135 Kehalani Village Drive, the testing site will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week and will be a non-contact process that allows patients to do their own nasal swab, Longs District Leader Alec Daily said.
CVS also planned to open a testing site in Pahoa on Hawaii island today in addition to sites already operating in Mililani and Pearl City on Oahu.
Also starting today, minors ages 12 and older will be eligible for COVID-19 testing at more than 2,000 CVS sites nationwide, including the Wailuku location.
Patients must register in advance at https://www.cvs.com/minuteclinic/covid-19-testing to schedule an appointment. A parent or legal guardian must complete the online registration for all minors, and patients ages 12 to 15 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian when they come to be tested.
Parents or guardians seeking testing for children under the age of 12 should consult with a pediatrician on appropriate testing options.
Self-swab tests come at no cost to patients and will be available to individuals meeting Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria.
Daily said that people should bring ID and insurance — which they can also upload a copy of online — and that all types of insurances are accepted. However, people will not be turned away if they do not have insurance.
CVS Health has administered 3 million COVID-19 tests since launching its first site in March. In recent weeks it has expanded its network of independent third-party lab partners to improve turnaround times for results. Most results at CVS test sites will generally be available within two to three days.
